NIST-JANAF Thermochemical Tables
Help

The NIST-JANAF Thermochemical Tables website contains thermochemical data for more than 1,700 chemical compounds. The data on these compounds was taken from the printed volumes of the NIST-JANAF Thermochemical Tables.

There are several ways to use this website. The first is to search for a chemical compound. There are two ways of doing this. Entering text into the box on the main page will show a list of matching compounds as you type. Simply click/touch/hit enter on a highlighted compound to be taken to its JANAF table data. Note that the interface displays no more than 10 matches at a time in the matching compound list, but this list can be scrolled using the keyboard arrows or mouse/touch.

Clicking on the periodic table image will take the user to a clickable version of the periodic table. Clicking on a chemical symbol with a dark background will take the user to a list of compounds in the database that contain the selected atom. From this list, the user may select the desired compound.

The second way to use the website is to obtain scanned copies of the JANAF tables pages. At present, the pages are grouped into collections by primary atom. Following the "JANAF Fourth Edition PDF files" link on the home page will take the user to a page where these collections may be selected by clicking on the periodic table interface, or by selecting the collection by the name of the primary in a list located below the periodic table. The introduction sections of both volumes may be found here as well.

Feedback on this database is always welcome. Please email the primary maintainer, Tom Allison, at thomas allison nist gov if you have any difficulty using this website or if you have any suggestions for improvement.
